This carefully curated 8-day itinerary is a journey into the heart and soul of Bolivia. Beginning in the high-altitude capital of La Paz, you will explore a city that blends colonial architecture, indigenous culture, and modern life. From there, your adventure deepens as you fly to Uyuni, where the vast salt flats stretch endlessly under the sky, creating surreal reflections during sunset. You will travel across desert landscapes filled with geysers, lagoons, volcanoes, and unique rock formations, discovering Bolivia’s wild, untouched beauty. Returning to La Paz, the journey continues with immersive cultural tours, breathtaking cable car rides, and a full-day excursion to Lake Titicaca. Ending at Isla del Sol, considered the cradle of Inca civilization, this program offers a perfect balance of culture, history, and nature in one extraordinary trip.
Upon arrival in La Paz, Bolivia’s lofty capital sitting at more than 3,600 meters above sea level, you will be greeted by our team and transferred privately to your hotel. The city itself is a dramatic sight, resting in a deep valley surrounded by snowcapped peaks of the Cordillera Real. This day is left at leisure for you to rest and begin acclimatizing to the altitude. Take time to soak in the atmosphere of the city, where tradition and modernity merge. You may wish to stroll around your hotel, enjoy a warm coca tea, or simply relax in preparation for the adventures ahead. Overnight stay in La Paz.
After breakfast, embark on a cultural journey to Tiwanaku, the cradle of Andean civilizations and a UNESCO World Heritage site. As you walk among the ruins, discover the Temple of the Sun, the awe-inspiring Akapana Pyramid, and the enigmatic Puma Punku, where giant stone blocks are carved with impossible precision. The museum offers a deeper insight into the mysteries of this pre-Inca culture. In the afternoon, return to La Paz for a city tour. Stroll through Plaza Murillo, admire the majestic Cathedral, and visit the Museum of Precious Metals. Then, wander through the surreal landscapes of the Valle de la Luna, a natural wonder shaped by erosion. End your day gliding above the city on the teleférico cable cars, enjoying panoramic views of mountains and urban sprawl. Overnight in La Paz.
This morning, transfer to the airport for a flight to Uyuni, gateway to the largest salt desert on Earth. Upon arrival, head towards Colchani, where local artisans craft salt-based products. Continue across the dazzling white expanse of the Uyuni Salt Flats, a vast mirror-like surface stretching endlessly under the sky. Visit the Dakar Rally Monument before heading to Incahuasi Island, a rocky outcrop covered with towering cacti, where a short hike reveals breathtaking 360° views. A picnic lunch will be served in the middle of the Salar, an experience like no other. As the sun descends, witness one of the world’s most surreal sunsets, as the horizon reflects infinite shades of gold and pink. Overnight stay in Uyuni.
Begin the day exploring the haunting Train Cemetery, a relic of Bolivia’s mining past where rusty locomotives lie abandoned in the desert. Continue through the small community of San Cristóbal before approaching the impressive Ollagüe Volcano, which rises dramatically over the high plateau. The journey then takes you to a series of lagoons – Cañapa, Hedionda, Honda, and Charcota – where vivid colors and reflections create magical landscapes. Here, flamingos feed gracefully in the shallow waters, providing an extraordinary opportunity for photography. Surrounded by towering peaks and vast open skies, this day offers some of the most striking scenery of the entire trip. Return to your accommodation in Uyuni for a well-deserved rest. Overnight in Uyuni.
Today’s adventure is filled with natural wonders. Begin with the surreal Árbol de Piedra, a wind-sculpted stone tree standing in the desert. Continue to the iconic Laguna Colorada, its red waters hosting thousands of flamingos feeding on its plankton-rich surface. Journey deeper into the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna Reserve, where the Sol de Mañana geysers release clouds of steam and bubbling mud under the morning light. Afterward, relax in the natural Polques hot springs, surrounded by mountains and silence. The tour continues to the striking Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca, lying beneath the watchful gaze of the Licancabur Volcano. Pass through the mystical Valle de Rocas before returning via the historic church of San Cristóbal. Overnight in Uyuni.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to La Paz. Upon arrival, you’ll be taken to your hotel, where the rest of the day is free to explore at your own pace. You might wish to stroll through local markets filled with handicrafts, enjoy traditional Andean dishes in one of the city’s restaurants, or simply relax at your hotel to absorb the experiences of the past days. This is a perfect moment to enjoy La Paz’s unique energy, where vibrant street life, colonial architecture, and stunning mountain views come together. Overnight in La Paz.
This morning, travel by tourist bus to Copacabana, crossing the Tiquina Strait by boat to continue the journey. Upon arrival, board a motorboat across the deep blue waters of Lake Titicaca towards the legendary Isla del Sol, birthplace of Inca mythology. Enjoy a delicious lunch with lake views before exploring the island’s archaeological sites and scenic paths. Your guide will share stories of the Inca civilization and the spiritual importance of this sacred place. The landscapes here are magical: terraced hillsides, traditional villages, and sweeping views of the lake with snowcapped peaks in the background. Return to La Paz in the evening, where you’ll spend your final night in Bolivia.
