The Journey

Day by day

A chronicle of each day — follow the route on the map, uncover the secrets of every destination.

Daily Summary

Day 1

Iquitos, The Green Door

The plane lands in Peru's most isolated city and the heat enters before the luggage reaches the belt. The lodge transfer by boat along the Amazon is the first jungle moment: children lean over both sides of the hull looking for pink dolphins before the dock is even in sight.

Insider Secret

The boat to the lodge is part of the itinerary, not merely a transfer. We schedule it with time to stop if dolphins appear.

Day 2

The Jungle, The Classroom Without Walls

The naturalist guide leads children on the first forest walk: tapir tracks in the mud, ant stick, butterfly cocoons, a boa sleeping coiled on a low branch. The jungle has a language of its own and children learn it faster than adults. Every question is answered with another question back.

Insider Secret

We select guides with specific training for children. The difference between an informative walk and one that ignites curiosity is the guide.

Day 3

The River, The Animal Route

The canoe enters the Amazon's inner tributaries: the motor cuts and the guide paddles. Low-flying parrots, howler monkeys in the canopy, bank caimans sliding into the water. The child who identifies the most animals is named explorer of the day. It is not a game of chance.

Insider Secret

We establish the 'explorer of the day' title ourselves. Children carry their sighting list all week: it becomes their field journal.

Day 4

The Platform, The Longest Night

The raised canopy platform is the night children remember decades later. Fifteen metres above the ground, beneath linen mosquito nets, the nocturnal jungle begins its shift: glass frogs, cicadas that cover all conversation, fireflies. The guide identifies each sound in a low voice. The parents say nothing at all.

Insider Secret

We prepare children before ascending: we explain what they will hear. That anticipation turns nocturnal fear into curiosity.

Day 5

The Community, Knowledge of the River

The boat crosses to a riverside community that has worked with our team for years. Children learn to weave chambira fibre, prepare masato, identify medicinal plants with the local healer. This is not a tourist visit: it is an exchange between generations who share the same curiosity about the world.

Insider Secret

This community knows us and we know them. We do not send families to communities we have not visited ourselves first.

Day 6

The River, Amazon Patience

Fishing with rod on the Amazon teaches something no museum can: waiting. The guide shows how to improvise a hook from palm, how to read the current, how to release the fish after seeing it up close. The afternoon ends on the lodge terrace with the last light over the river and fried plantain.

Insider Secret

Fishing on the Amazon is not about catching fish. It is the excuse to keep children still on the river for one whole hour.

Day 7

Lima, The World on Return

The boat returns to Iquitos along the Amazon at dawn. The family arrives at the airport with muddy boots and wide eyes. The flight over the jungle lasts forty minutes: infinite green beneath the wings. Lima receives with asphalt and coastal mist. The children ask when they come back. That is the sign.

Insider Secret

The journey ends when children ask when they return. They always do. The Amazon is not forgotten at any age.

The Kada Voices

01 / 02

Nothing prepared us for the Amazon. Kada Travel's family programme was perfectly calibrated — adventurous enough for the adults, magical for the children. Our daughter still talks about the night walk
