What we value here

Before it became the boat it is today, La Perla worked the Marañón as a trading vessel — and this is the only Amazon ship whose interior carries that earlier life rather than imitating it. Brass detail, polished mahogany, period light fittings, contemporary linens: the restoration is honest about the difference between what was kept and what was added, and the result is the most timeless interior on the river. We recommend it to travellers for whom material history matters as much as wildlife.

A boutique manifest, deeper rivers

Seven master suites, each with a private balcony, mean the ship can navigate narrower tributaries that the larger vessels cannot reach — a meaningful difference once you are off the main current. The daily programme has the flexibility of a private charter, the cuisine is regional and adjusted to the table, and evenings end on the upper deck under a constellation map the captain still teaches by hand. Small enough to feel chartered; old enough to feel earned.
